A day that has been etched in China's head for the past few years. A day that will go down in the countries history! As one of the speaker's in the opening ceremony stated, "The day that China opens her doors to the world!"
At 8pm China shut down and attended the most anticipated opening ceremony it may have seemed of all Olympic opening ceremonies. You could feel it in the air throughout the day and as time drew near, the excitement was getting to be too much!!! All I can say is that China pulled it off and in true China fashion...amazing choreography, awesome stunts...everything!
Well, we had our first meeting with CC International earlier that day and was given a briefing on what the day was going to entail. It was basically...ENJOY the day and the opening ceremony! So that's exactly what we did. Of course all of China would not be able to be there in person for the opening ceremony, but throughout the city there were huge big screens set up so that everyone would be able to enjoy this remarkable moment.
We attended the viewing at Di Tan Park (I hope that's correct spelling). It was long, but well worth it. The pride of China was on the line and they displayed there country in such a way that the only thing that came out of my mouth was...ooh...aah! As you will see in the videos...awesome! If you were watching, then you know what I mean. Even though we weren't there in person, we were in CHINA!
The Northern crew: Jordan, Raquel and myself are here safe and finally united! It was exciting to see them. We are all very anxious to find out what we will be doing for the next few weeks. We met with fellow Northerners...Jing and Lin Lin for a final lunch. Lin will be heading back to Northern today for GA training and Jing will continue going to school here at Capital Normal.
The fun has just started! I'm sure I left out a lot of details, but I'm trying to get it all down. We meet in about an hour to get our itineraries and our Olympic tickets!!! I'll begin posting daily and try, try, try to keep this interesting...
